Stretch Marks
Stretch marks appear as parallel streaks of red, thinned glossy skin that over time become whitish and scarlike in appearance. The stretch marks may be slightly depressed and have a different texture than normal skin.
Stretch marks can appear when skin rapidly stretched, which is why they often appear in pregnant women. People are also susceptible to stretch marks during adolescence or in other times of rapid change of body size.
Stretch Mark Removal
Although stretch marks are not a significant medical problem, they can be very disturbing to people who suffer from them. There is no cure for stretch marks, but there are many topical creams that may help soften and lessen the appearance of the marks. Some plastic surgeons do laser treatment surgery for the marks, although this can be costly and the outcome not certain. Makeup is another alternative to temporarily reduce the appearance of the marks.
